THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she completed her secondary education. With a deep passion for family law, Ashley's present legal practice is centered around a variety of aspects of family matters. She focuses a majority of her practice on divorce cases, alimony disputes, the distribution of marital property child custody battles, child support arrangements, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, enforcement and post-divorce issues such as step-parent or private party adoptions as well as child welfare concerns. In addition to family law, Ashley also handles estate planning issues, such as trusts, wills, probate and estate administration along with commercial, contract, and civil litigation cases. Ashley has been a mediator appointed by the court since the year 2019. She assists parties to resolve their disputes without the need for court or litigation involvement. Ashley mediates private disputes as well as court-appointed mediation for those who wish to avoid the court process and litigation.

Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. She then pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. In 2013, she graduated, and excelled academically, securing a spot among the top 10 students in her class. Ashley was a Note Editor for the Western New England Law Review during her time in law school. This demonstrated her commitment to scholarship and research in the field of law.

Following the completion of her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship program, working with notable jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She was fortunate to work as a law assistant for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson at the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott. In 2014, she returned to Hagerstown Maryland to work as a law clerk for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long, Washington County Circuit Court. Ashley joined Poole & Kane P.A. in 2015 as an associate attorney. as an associate attorney. Her primary role in the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services in matters that involved child welfare. Ashley's dedicated efforts contributed greatly to helping children who were victims of neglect or abuse at the of their caregivers or parents. Her dedication to social justice went beyond her legal practice since she was actively a board member for the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force, which worked hard to increase awareness of human trafficking within the tri-state area.

In 2017 she was a founding member at Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., and developed her practice in family law including divorce, custody, child maintenance and guardianships and financial and estate planning, wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxy and mediation.

Ashley founded Wilburn Law Office, LLC 2023, with the commitment to provide a personalized approach for every client's need.
